Fear of Children

This group is brandy new and is likely inspired by too much Court TV. The title is actually the title of a chapter from Gavin de Becker's bestseller The Gift of Fear.

A Beautiful Killer

is he beautiful
or is he ugly
he's a beautiful-but-evil one

what lurks in the mind
his dangerous mind
what delusions does he plan
to make real

is he beautiful
or horrible
he's an evil-but-beautiful one

he's what we've created
by conscientious neglect

is he sane or insane
when do we know
when do we decide to look

at the face of evil
at the face of the devil
we've created

is he an old man
or a child
I cannot tell

is he beautiful
or is he ugly?
I cannot decide

but there he is

with evil inside
that he doesn't even try to hide
and we say
who could have known?
who could have foretold?

what trouble was brewing
in the brooding
beautiful straight-jacketed boy

The Allure of Broken Toys

broken toys do declare
fix me, take me in your arms
so I can cut you

but nurse tries again

broken toys, she says
must be nurtured and loved
must be made to cry in her arms
must by comforted
must be made whole again
nurse must make them whole again

but that damage is done
no glue will hold them
and nurse bleeds
while she bandages

broken toys declare
take me in your arms
so I can cut you, again

but nurse continues

broken toys, she says
must be nurtured and loved
must be made to cry in her arms
must be comforted
must be made whole again
nurse will make them whole again

but the damage is done
the bandages are undone
and nurse realizes her mistake
much too late
